About a year ago they closed the park that was just around the corner from our house because it was showing wear that could be dangerous. It was a park that the community built together in 1992. The residents around here decided they wanted to do it again. They didn't want just another playground like you see everywhere else, so they raised money and built it again. For the past few days, the community has been rebuilding the playground. It has been so fun to walk by and check on the progress and see so many people volunteering. The soft opening was delayed from 5 to 7 tonight- we went over about 5:30 and it was really neat. A radio station was there, there was a big lunchmeat truck with food for the workers, and a Rita's water ice character was dancing around the giving out coupons. We didn't get to see it completed, but here's a picture of everyone working! We can't wait to check it out tomorrow.
